The Latin boogaloo aka bugalú was a Latin dance craze that began in New York City in 1966, only to fade out before decade's end. In that short lifespan, bugalú told a compelling story of innovation, success and jealousy in the Latin music world, but also reflected a history of cross-cultural encounters between the "Black sound" of R&B and "Brown sound" of Latin music. Decades later and the bugalú is back like never before, still roping dancers with its irresistible rhythms and "bang bang" intensity.
